Gloria Hunniford, celebrity journalist and a long standing supporter of quality care for older people officially opened Water Mill House Care Home in Hemel Hempstead on Wednesday 5th August 2015. A 1950’s infused event was held at the home and was attended by over 160 people, including residents, their family, staff and members of the local community to celebrate this significant milestone. Councillor Gbola Adeleke, the Mayor of the Borough of Dacorum also joined Gloria for the opening.
Gloria and Councillor Adeleke spent much time talking to residents and staff of the home and were both very complimentary about the exceptional facilities and the dedication demonstrated by the care team at the home.
Much fun was had by all, with resident and staff dancing in the garden to 1950’s band ‘Lipstick on your Collar’ who entertained with classic hits from the era. A bouncy castle and vintage sweet trolley ensured all the children that attended were kept entertained.
“This was a very special day for us” said Water Mill Home Manager, Anna Marrah. “Both Gloria and Councillor Adeleke spent so much time getting to know the residents and talking to the staff – everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.”
