The Spinney Fundraises for Cancer Research

The Spinney care home spent a day fundraising for Cancer Research.

The fundraising day was organised by the home to get residents involved in an enjoyable activity, whilst raising money for a worthy cause.

The home organised a gardening day and invited relatives and friends of the residents to donate plants, flowers and gardening accessories to the home, which they spent the day planting.

The charity day was blessed with lots of sunshine and the residents joined their relatives and friends in completely transforming The Spinney’s garden. After the gardening was finished, the home laid on a bbq for everyone who had come along to enjoy the day.

The Spinney’s fundraising day raised £100 for Cancer Research and they had so much fun that they are already planning another gardening day before the summer ends.

Juliette Oates, The Spinney Care Home Manager, says: “We had a fantastic day in the garden last week and managed to raise an impressive amount for Cancer Research. The residents, their relatives and friends all had a wonderful day in the fresh air and sunshine and we are grateful for those who came to help for offering their time and generous donation of plants and flowers. Activities like these are perfect for the residents and great for the charities we support and we look forward to planning more very soon.”
