A dementia-friendly community app is to be launched this week to coincide with a special performance at the Cornbow Hall in Halesowen; the app will complement the staging of a play entitled Finding Joy and will provide information to the community about supporting and caring for those with dementia.

The app and performance are set to raise awareness about the condition and just what goes into the provision of dementia care in specialist residential care homes. The app itself has been produced by Dudley County Council’s dementia gateway service in a partnership with social care and health company Equip 4 Change.

The local community will be able to download the app for free from the council’s website when it goes live during the special performance on Wednesday evening, according to this article. The play portrays the story of Joy and how she and her family deal with her deteriorating memory loss. It is hoped that the app will offer additional information and confidence to the community in supporting anyone they know who has dementia.
