The brand new Water Mill House care home in Hemel Hempstead celebrated its ‘Topping Out’ ceremony last week.
The local Mayor Elect, Cllr Allan Lawson, and the Mayoress, Mrs Wendy Lawson, attended the Topping Out Ceremony of the new 65-bed care home in Hemel Hempstead, which will provide residential, nursing and dementia care from August this year.
The Ceremony took place at the home on Thursday 5 June at 10am and was also attended by Nicola Coveney, Managing Director of Carebase; Dawn Sharp, Business Manager, Carebase; Anna Marrah, the new Water Mill House Care Home Manager; Michael Hodson-Prior from TEC Construction, and Daniel McLoon, a local council work experience youngster who attended with the Mayor.
The Mayor and Mayoress donned their high-visibility jackets and helped spread stones to complete the roof terrace and the overall construction of the home, officially announcing it open for viewings by potential residents and their families. They later joined the Carebase Managing Director, Business Manager and Water Mill House Manager for a celebratory glass of champagne and a tour around the beautiful new home’s show suites and fabulous facilities. The spacious and modern home will boast a beautiful roof garden, a luxury spa, a library and a cinema room. There will also be sensory gardens with raised planters for residents to use.
The mayor said he was hugely impressed with care home, its concept and the quality of the environment and facilities. He is looking forward to returning in a few months when it is home to the first residents. Water Mill House is looking forward to a good relationship with the local Mayor and has agreed to support his chosen charity this year, which is a local facility for sufferers of Multiple Sclerosis.
The show suites at Water Mill House are now open to the public and the home is looking forward to welcoming its first residents in August.
