Residents of Honey Lane Care Home in Waltham Abbey were chosen by the charity Anita’s Angels to be the recipient of 38 artificial roses for Valentine’s Day.
Anita’s Angels raise funds to help make a difference to the people in their communities. The group, who have travelled to America and Paris to visit care homes, specially selected Honey Lane in a bid to show the residents that “strangers care”.
Shilpa Patel, who volunteers for the charity said, “This Valentine’s Day we wanted to spend some quality time and talk to the residents at Honey Lane and make them feel special. We were part of a nationwide Valentine’s Day initiative with Anita’s Angels volunteers delivering 5,300 wooden red roses and Valentine’s Cards to the elderly in care homes all over the country – 142 in total!”
Karen Dean, Home Manager at Honey Lane said: “It was such a lovely surprise for our residents. And the wooden roses looked beautiful – and of course will last forever. But above all, it’s so wonderful to see people in the community taking the time and care to spend time with our residents – and make them feel so special”.
