Carebase beat nine other finalists to take the Care Employer Award in this year’s Great British Care Awards 2015 held at the ICC, Birmingham on April 24th.
The company, which has previously won the award in 2010, was praised by the judges for “the infectious enthusiasm and the commitment and innovation they demonstrated in encouraging and rewarding staff – a role model for employers”. The judges were Bill Stangoe from Simply Together, Sean Williams from Specsavers and David Coul from the National Care Forum & Coverage Care Services.
The Great British Care Awards celebrate excellence across the care sector. Their purpose is to promote best practice and pay tribute to those individuals and organisations who have demonstrated outstanding excellence in their field of work.
Nicola Coveney, Managing Director of Carebase says: “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award. Investing in our staff through training and professional development and recognising excellence and sharing best practice is at the core of what we do.
“But rewarding our hardworking staff for their commitment is also central to our approach. Our annual ‘Heart of Gold’ awards week recognises all our staff for their care and dedication – whether carers, maintenance workers, nurses or chefs. During Carers Week, we like to pamper our staff with lots of special treats. We believe that these initiatives, as well as encouraging a culture of open and honest communication, results in an environment where everyone feels valued and residents receive the highest quality care”.
