Colchester in Bloom is an action group formed entirely of volunteers, which aims to improve and sustain the local environment by planting more trees and flowers to enhance the area for residents and visitors alike.
Many local businesses get involved in Colchester in Bloom by filling a designated public or private space with beautiful plants and the competition awards a prize to the best one.
Alderwood care home entered for the first time this year and attended the Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 18 September at Clarice House, where the Colchester in Bloom Committee announced Alderwood as the worthy winner. Representatives of the care home were presented with a rosette and certificate by the Mayor of Colchester to display at the home.
Matthew Cox, Alderwood Care Home Manager, says; “We are delighted to have won the Award for Colchester in Bloom 2013. We all take great pride in the wonderful garden at Alderwood and we worked really hard to ensure it looked its best before the judges arrived. I am sure we will all enjoy the gardens even more after winning this prestigious award.”
