Susan Russell a senior carer at The Spinney, has won a Heart of Gold Award at a ceremony at the home on 15th November. Susan has worked at the care home for 19 years.
The Awards seek to recognise employees for their dedication and commitment in providing high quality care and compassion to all the home’s residents.
Kim Murphy, Deputy Manager of The Spinney said, “Susan has been part of the core team at the Spinney for a very long time. She is a very dedicated lady who does not always see her own value. Susan supports residents, relatives and team members in a gentle and caring manner and I truly believe she deserves this award”.
Susan was presented with a Tiffany necklace to commemorate her success by Rahim Dhanani, Executive Director of Carebase.
Nominations for the award came from residents and their relatives, co-workers, social workers and local health professionals. Susan was chosen from the list of nominations by a panel of previous Heart of Gold award winners from the other homes in The Spinney’s group.
Susan said, “I am delighted to be nominated this year’s Heart of Gold Ambassador – it is very emotional for me and The Spinney is my life. We are such a close team of people, a real family, who really care for each other. I thoroughly enjoy every day I spend here making sure our residents receive the best care. Thank you to everyone at The Spinney”.
Altogether there were 22 nominees for the award at The Spinney and all nominees received a Heart of Gold lapel pin.
