Melanie Parsons, a Care Assistant from Guildford, has won a Heart of Gold Award at a ceremony at Queen and Elizabeth Park Care Home (QEP) in Guilford today, Tuesday September 22nd.
The Awards seek to recognise employees for their dedication and commitment in providing high quality care and compassion to all the home’s residents.
Heather De-Ninis, manager of QEP said: “Those who have been nominated do not just do their jobs, they consistently demonstrate compassion and dedication to make our residents lives better each and every day.
“Melanie is especially deserving of this award. She gets involved in anything and everything that helps to give our residents a good time. In her own time, she takes the residents shopping, dresses up for charity (not so long ago as Peppa Pig!), helps out in the kitchen – anything that helps put a smile on resident’s faces. She has a true heart of gold.”
Melanie was presented with an etched glass plaque to commemorate her success and a Tiffany necklace by Alnur Dhanani, Chairman of Carebase, the company that owns QEP. Nominations for the award came from residents and their relatives, co-workers, social workers and local health professionals.
Melanie said: “I am so overwhelmed to win this year’s Heart of Gold and be recognised in this way. I am so lucky to be working with a dedicated and compassionate team here at QEP who work tirelessly to give our residents the best care and life. Thank you to each and every one of you for your lovely comments”.
Altogether there were 35 nominees for the award at QEP and all nominees received a Heart of Gold lapel pin
