Little lambs create magical moments for residents at Queen Elizabeth Park

A heartwarming visit from a group of toddlers spread laughter and cheer among residents at Queen Elizabeth Park care home.

The Little Lambs are regular visitors where they take part in a number of activities with residents including crafts, reading stories and sharing experiences.

The intergenerational initiative brings fun and forges magical connections between the children and residents at the 77-bed home, who are always delighted to see the young visitors.

Resident Kay Laker said: “How wonderful this is! Seeing all the children play so nicely together. I love seeing the children in the home. It amazes me how advanced children are these days. They are all so lovely.”

Another resident, Susan Peckham added: “The toddler group is a very well-organised event. It is so lovely to see. The children are all so sweet.”

Kasia Kozlowska, a childminder from the Little Lambs group, emphasised the importance of building relationships in the community and the happiness shared during the visit. Kasia shared.

She said: “It’s lovely to be a part of the community and to be able to join in the sessions, being able to be a part of spreading happiness to the residents and children.

“We have been made to feel very welcome and well looked after. It’s so lovely to be here, a nice morning for the children, and we are very thankful. Win win!”

The activities are also attended by parents who are always thrilled to see how much the children and residents enjoy the experience first hand.

“It’s so lovely to see and to be a part of the group having the opportunity to engage with the residents,” said parent Kelly Collins.

“I’ve never seen anything like this. I saw a documentary about these groups a few years ago, so it was absolutely lovely to see it lived out.”

The group play together with toys, jigsaws and bubbles with residents also reading stories to the children.

Care home manager, Heather De-Ninis, expressed her gratitude for the regular visits and the positive impact it has on the residents.

She said: “The Little Lambs toddler group brings an incredible sense of joy and liveliness to our home and this fun atmosphere is something we’re really proud of.

“The interaction between the children and our residents is so heartwarming, and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to create such wonderful moments.”
