Linda and Sue our very own chefs took part in a very special training day on 27th June in London with celebrity chef, Ainsley Harriott to launch our Making A Difference food challenge.
At Brooklands we are committed to providing the best quality food and dining experience for our residents. With other care homes in our group we are embarking on a challenge to come up with a new, creative and innovative dining experience for our residents.
Ainsley spent time with Linda and Sue demonstrating some of his recipes and sharing his top tips.
Ainsley said: “I am passionate about good food and exciting people to create wonderful meals and dishes no matter where they eat. It’s great to see Brooklands Care Home investing in this competition and I know that Linda and Sue will embrace the challenge ahead and produce a fabulous new menu idea for the residents”.
We are now working on our challenge idea ready for judging of the competition in October when we will invite our friends and family, as well as those in the community in to sample our delicacies. We hope then to invite Ainsley back to Brooklands later in October for a prize-giving ceremony.
Linda said about the training day: “This was such an exciting opportunity and Ainsley has been incredibly inspiring today. Learning from him has given me many ideas to take back to Brooklands and develop into our winning idea. Sharing ideas and learning with the other chefs has been a really valuable experience.”
Sue said: “Ainsley’s Three Cup Chicken dish is something I am certain to cook for our residents and his Caribbean Bouillabaisse was a real treat. We really hope to be shortlisted so we can welcome Ainsley to Brooklands in October.”
