This year we decided to show our appreciation for all the amazing individuals and organisations who have supported us throughout 2020 by painting 100 rainbow Christmas ornaments and sending them out to individuals and organisations in the community who have supported us this year.
Resident Dorothy said: ‘’It has been a pleasure and such good fun to decorate the rainbows. Sending them out to people in our community as a thank you for their kindness is a lovely idea. Also, giving a gift of a tree decoration is what we used to do years ago.”
Local recipients of rainbows included Alison and Kevin Ward who have supported our charity events over the years and have made a donation towards a party for the care team when restrictions allow.
Other recipients include Jon Picollo, who made every team member and resident a little glass heart keepsake in rainbow colours; Linda Elias who sent hampers and Carole Vickers, who hand-knitted little teddies.
Another recipient, Pamela Adams, made a photobook with images taken from our Facebook page, designed to stimulate happy memories. She said: ‘’I know how hard the team always work and especially this year. That is why I wanted to do a little something for everyone in the home. Receiving the rainbow as a thank you was such a surprise. I have hung it on my tree and will hang it again each year as a reminder that if we all think of each other, life is a little easier.’’
Home manager Nikki Leaney said: “It was a real labour of love for our residents. They so enjoyed painting the rainbows and they were all very creative in their approach. They were particularly thrilled to find a way to thank the many people in this lovely community who have supported the home this year.”
