Update on our approach to Coronavirus (COVID-19) as of 19 March 2020

Whilst we have no suspected or confirmed cases of the virus in any of our homes, we have taken the decision to introduce additional precautions and temporarily stop all visits by friends and families.

Whilst I understand this will be disappointing for many of you, I would like to assure you we have not taken this decision lightly but have done so, taking everything into consideration and using our clinical knowledge and expertise to assess current risk levels. We strongly believe it is currently the most effective way of us continuing to safeguard our treasured residents and dedicated team against the virus.

This temporary measure will be reviewed daily in line with national guidance as well as our care expertise and ever-changing developments across the UK and further afield.

We will of course continue to keep you updated on any changes to both your loved one and our approach as they occur and our team will be supporting residents to remain in regular contact with their loved ones through phone calls and Skype.

I would urge you to contact us directly on your loved one’s normal care home number if they are currently receiving end of life care. We appreciate this is a particularly difficult time for you at the moment and would like to support you to still visit at a mutually agreed time.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding at this extremely difficult time. I would like to personally assure you that the health and wellbeing of all of our residents is always our number one priority, and our dedicated team are doing all they can to ensure your loved one stays safe.

Please do share this new information with your extended family and friends who may be considering a visit to the home in the coming days and weeks.

In the meantime, if you have an email address which we can use to contact you with future updates, please email careupdates@carebase.org.uk so we can update our records. This would be our preferred method of contacting you to reduce the delay in you receiving the latest information.
